New Chromecast leaks with faster Wi-Fi
The upcoming media streamer by Google will come with many enhanced features, including the option to pull feeds into the home screen, a new “Fast Play” feature, better WiFi (perhaps 802.11ac), and much more. The new Chromecast is tipped to feature faster Wi-Fi inside of its new shell.
9to5Google reported that Spotify will also launch Chromecast support in its mobile app. A couple of months ago Google launched the Chromecast Ethernet and PSU adapter – targeting what is often considered to be the Chromecast’s weakest link – its Wi-Fi performance. The original Chromecast only supported 802.11b/g/n. It’s possible that Google will expand on this in the future… and I’d be surprised if it needs new hardware to work, so it could find its way to the original Chromecast as well. The photos are quite terrible but do show some intersiting stuff for this audio & video streaming HDMI dongle. This is said to be one of the most reported problems in the current Chromecast where users do not get the required speed and seamless connectivity while playing content.
The new Chromcast could be announced on the 29th of September 2015, alongside Google’s latest Nexus smartphones.
Google’s Chromecast is a very popular streaming device, not only because of its ability to beam content from your phone or tablet to your TV, but also because of its low $35 price tag. The connection niggles in the current Chromecast has always been its Achilles heels and the Fast Play feature might just solve that problem.
Finally, the internal documents indicate that Mountain View will be formally launching the second-gen Chromecast on September 29th, along with new Nexus devices, so check back that day if you want to know its final specs and details.
