New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft disses Manning family
“I happened to see Archie [Manning] there”, Kraft said on an interview with WCVB-TV on Wednesday, via SI.com.
He’s not wrong. Peyton Manning has two rings, Eli Manning has two rings, and Tom Brady has four rings. “He has two sons who have won two Super Bowls (each)”. But Robert Kraft just can’t help taking a small shot at Peyton and Eli Manning, and that’s ok.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has become a little more outspoken in the media over the past year, since his team and beloved quarterback Tom Brady, were accused in the never-ending deflategate scheme.
Peyton Manning was, of course, the beneficiary of all this.
For the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl 50, they had to claw over other teams who wanted the title just as badly (and with more functional quarterbacks). “But with all due respect, we’ve got one son who’s won four”.
Of the booing that Brady received at Levi’s Stadium when he was introduced during a ceremony before the game, Kraft said, “We didn’t hear it. …” He may not always be right, but at least he’s entertaining.
The Patriots are one of the winningest teams of the past decade, but without the Manning Brothers wrecking their postseason plans prematurely, it could’ve been much more.
Kraft had an interesting response to Peyton Manning winning his second Super Bowl to also join Eli Manning with two wins.
“If you’re running businesses anywhere in the world, the people who really do well are the people who have mental toughness”, Kraft said.
Another highlight from Kraft’s interview: he believes that if the AFC championship game had been played in New England, not in Denver, the result would have been different.
Tom Brady has four rings, true.
