New Ford Figo 2015 price list and bookings
“Built on Ford’s latest global platform, the all-new Figo is an able and worthy successor to one of Ford’s most well-known and trusted nameplates in India”, Nigel Harris, president and managing director, Ford India said.
Following the immediate success of the Figo Aspire compact sedan, Ford is set to continue its hot streak by launching the next generation Figo hatch in India on 23 September.
The Figo is a smart looking vehicle , and closely matches the Figo Aspire compact-sedan – save, of-course, for the boot. Upfront, Ford’s signature bold trapezoidal grille and elongated headlamps grab attention while a well-proportioned tailgate and an accentuated character line running through to the tail lamp cluster enhance overall width.
The 1.2-litre petrol can give out 64.7 KW of power and 112 Nm, the 1.5-litre petrol does 82.3 KW and 136 Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel can give out 74 KW and 215 Nm of torque. Oddly enough, however, that variant doesn’t receive stability control – you’ll actually find that on the one-rung-lower Titanium, and only with the top 1.5 litre petrol mill. It makes 90PS and 204Nm and according to ARAI test results for fuel mileage, it gets 25.83kmpl.
All cars get a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The Figo is also available with a 1.5-liter motor paired to a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Harris also added, “In 2010, segment in which the Figo competes was of 4.5L units a year, we aim to grow to 6.2L units by end of 2015 & 9.65L units by 2020”. Like the Figo Aspire, the Figo too will come with a “plus” variant that will sport leather seats, the voice command Sync Applink and a multi-function display. It also features fold-flat rear seats to create more room to ensure Figo owners don’t leave anything behind.
Inside, the Figo gets an all-black theme with silver inserts around the cabin to liven it up. The new 2015 Figo would be definitely a tough competitor to its similar other cars such as Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata Bolt.
Ford is highlighting its push for greater safety on Indian roads, a driver-side airbag is offered as standard across the range, while dual-front airbags are offered on all variants except the base variant.
