New Forge playlist now available
Forge mode wasn’t available in Halo 5: Guardians until December, but it hasn’t taken long for budding level creators to produce some spectacular battlefields. If nothing else, at least Bearskopff is creating arenas for Spartans to battle in that are wholly new to first-person shooting, rather than just trying to recreate maps from previous Halo games or, say, Call of Duty. Now, someone’s used Forge to create the ultimate Halo 5 map: Princess Peach’s Castle.
Every single brick of the Castle is a single object in the map.
Such is the power of Nintendo’s brand and the ongoing popularity of its classic games that references can be found in unlikely places.
Players can even take part in mini games while using the maps provided in the Community Breakout playlist.
Bearskopff achieved the “cartoony” look of the Castle map using Halo 5’s “baked lighting”. After getting the chance to become familiar with the 10 Forge maps, players will be able to vote for their favorites, and the top winners will be inserted into the February Breakout playlist alongside the original maps.
This isn’t Bearskopff’s first Halo 5 Forge creation. That sees the Mushroom Kingdom become the Halo universe’s new battleground, Spartan teams warring over terrain built in much simpler times.
