New Games of Thrones e-Reading App Appeals to Casual TV Viewers
Those who have ploughed their way through George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire are clearly at an advantage when it comes to understanding the mythology, geography, and characters.
“Delve deeper into the world of Westeros and the lands beyond”, the video promoting the new Game of Thrones app promises. If one really wanted to, it seems like you could skip all the five-page long food descriptions and jump straight to all of the book’s most heartwrenching, shocking moments.
Unless George R.R. Martin manages to publish The Winds of Winter before next spring, of course.
The app, A Game of Thrones: Get into the Books, lets Apple product users explore legendary passages from the novels.
The former smugly sit behind their computers, ready and waiting to “accidentally” spoil the show for a non-book reader on an internet forum somewhere.
So if you’ve ever wanted to read just how the infamous “Red Wedding” was written, you can find it on the app. And, if you’re not fully caught up with the show, you can tell the app which seasons you have seen.
And they tend to have an insight into what’s going to happen on the small screen. That is likely the opposite effect that Harper Collins wants, but that is certainly what the app will be used for.
