New gun control mandate in the works for President Obama following vacation

“The plain truth is that President Obama’s gun-control agenda will only make it harder for law-aiding citizens to exercise their constitutional right to self-protection”. He returned to the White House about noon Sunday.

“He can’t do that”, the GOP presidential front-runner said.

The President also called for more action on gun violence in his weekly address.

The administration has been weighing other proposals, including requiring federally licensed gun dealers to report the loss or theft of guns to the National Crime Information Center; providing guidance on restricting unsafe people from carrying guns within a specified distance of a school; clarifying that convicted abusers are prohibited from having guns regardless of their marital status; and instructing federal law enforcement to identify and arrest criminals who attempt to buy illegal guns.

The plan for at least a half-dozen measures, which will seek to tighten existing gun laws, still needs to be finalized with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday.
