New Indie Hack & Slash Titlle “Furi” Announced, Coming to PS4 and PC
Feeding on the tension of one-on-one fights against deadly adversaries, Furi from The Game Bakers is releasing in 2016 on PlayStation 4 and PC, the studio announced today. Described as an all-boss fighter, Furi aims to combine ultra-responsive hack-and-slash combat with twin-stick shooter mechanics. Each opponent has a unique fighting style that players will need to study in order to defeat.
Here’s a bit more about the game’s history and design, along with the announcement trailer. Takashi Okazaki, the creator of Afro Samurai, designed the characters for Furi with each one possessing its own individual move sets and animations. Then you watch its debut trailer showing off a mysterious samurai-like character with a red coat flowing like water through waves of projectiles before going in for the (over-the-top) kill, and a wave of “aww yeah” washes over you.
Speaking on the PS Blog, Furi creator Emeric Thoa said that his dream game would be “one long boss fight”.
As for the other details revealed about the game, “Furi” will feature combat gameplay inspired by Japanese games. Skills and reflexes are required to dodge and parry the enemy’s attacks. The music has been done up by a list of “electro musicians”, including Carpenter Brut.
Right now, The Game Bakers are “still hard at work polishing the game, creating the final bosses, and even throwing in an Easter egg or two”. Furi should release at a few point in 2016.
