New Jersey girl calls 911 after touching Elf on the Shelf
A 7-year-old girl from New Jersey called 911 after she began panicking when her Elf on the Shelf fell to the floor.
The girl was set into a frenzy after she accidentally knocked the elf off his shelf, then touched him, which is a classic no-no according to the children’s book and could result in Christmas magic vanishing from the home.
Her mother, Lynanne, says she woke up from a nap, finding her daughter trying to get an officer out of the house.
“She won’t call 911 again”, the officer told headquarters over the radio.
“To her, it was an emergency when she touched the elf, and she’s going to ruin Christmas, so that was her emergency”, said Old Bridge Police Lt. Joseph Mandola.
But unfortunately for Isabella LaPeruta, she was so flustered by the elf encounter that she called 911 instead of her father, according to NBC New York.
“I think she knows not to call 911 unless it’s an emergency, and an Elf of the Shelf falling off the shelf is not an emergency”, she said. Then she started panicking that the spirit of Christmas might be destroyed.
She said Santa Claus “knows” she won’t do it again. “Don’t!” she can be heard pleading on the recording from her home in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
Luckily, Lt. Mandola understood that for a kid destroying Christmas might be a real emergency so she did what she though right to do – call for help.
“There’s only one rule that you have to follow, so I will come back and be here tomorrow: Please do not touch me”. Being back from the North Pole, the elf returns each morning in a different location of the house. For iPhone go here.
