New Jersey high school football player dies after injury
The quarterback at Warren Hills High School in Warren County, New Jersey died Friday night after being injured during a varsity game.
Warren Hills coach Larry Dubiel was left stunned by the tragedy. He was injured during a varsity game at Warren Hills’ home field against Summit High School.
“He tried giving a thumbs-up to the rest of the team, and all of us cheered”, said Kaitlin Bell, 16, a junior varsity cheerleader at Warren Hills High School. “Our school district, with the cooperation of many, is providing grief and crisis counseling beginning immediately today, Saturday, for as long as the need exists”, said Gary R. Bowen, the district’s interim superintendent.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie offered his “heartfelt thoughts and prayers” to the Murray family in a tweet.

The center reported five direct fatalities on the scholastic gridiron last season, during which about 1.1 million high school players competed, according to National Federation of State High School Association data.
There aren’t yet any details available regarding how Murray suffered his injury.
