New Jersey Transit services to resume after big snowstorm
New Jersey Transit’s trains, buses and light rail are starting to come back online after a massive snowstorm hit the state.
The biggest problem will be faced by buses, especially those traveling side streets and secondary roads that may not be completely plowed.
System-wide cross-honoring remains in effect Sunday, meaning that NJ Transit customers’ tickets will be honored on rail, light rail or bus.
NJ Transit light rail service resumed at 11 a.m. Rail service will fully resume once Amtrak finishes clearing some areas.
The Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad are also operating with scattered weather-related delays, “especially on elevated and open cut subway and rail line”, the MTA added.
Trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule, including Midtown Direct trains into Manhattan, according to the agency.
Full train service is expected to be restored by 3 p.m.
NJ TRANSIT says it will work hard to restore service as quickly as possible.
Service on NJ Transit was suspended early Saturday morning as the blizzard moved in to all of New Jersey.
