“New Jihadi John” identified in latest ISIS video?
Authorities are investigating whether it is British radical Siddhartha Dhar – also known as Abu Rumaysah – who fled to Syria a year and a half ago after he and his mentor, radical London cleric Anjem Choudary, were arrested by Scotland Yard on charges of supporting terrorism.
The Islamic State group (ISIS or IS) threatened Britain in an Internet video Sunday showing the killing of five “spies” it said worked with the global coalition fighting IS in Iraq and Syria.
The video, posted Sunday, features a masked man who speaks with a British accent before he and four masked colleagues use pistols to kill five purported spies at close range. “I’m not sure within myself whether it is the truth or not”.
“I can’t believe it. This is just so shocking for me”.
The Government’s independent reviewer of anti-terror legislation, David Anderson QC, told the BBC: ” I stress that I can’t confirm that this is Siddhartha Dhar or not, but if we assume for a moment that it is, what is unusual about this case is that he managed to make that journey despite being subject to the criminal justice process, despite having been arrested and placed under police bail”.
“My message would be to stop the aggression against Muslims in the caliphate and I believe that if they don’t do that, that Barack Obama will have much more blood on his hands”, he added.
The extremist also taunted authorities for allowing him to slip through the net, writing on Twitter: “What a shoddy security system Britain must have to allow me to breeze through Europe to (IS)”. The man, whose daughter converted to Islam and moved to Syria with her family, said the boy does not know what he is doing and is being used for propaganda purposes.
Dhar’s sister has told various media outlets that the militant could be Dhar and that the audio on the tape resembles her brother’s voice. Dhar, 32, also published videos on his YouTube channel and spoke publicly to the media to denounce the West and preach radical Islam. His former neighbours from Walthamstow claimed Dhar’s wife was more devout than him and may have put him on the path to extremism.
The man in the video calls Cameron a “slave of the White House” and “mule of the Jews”, and vows ISIS will establish Sharia law in Britain.
Official confirmation is unlikely; Helen Bower, spokeswoman for Prime Minister David Cameron, said officials won’t comment on the identities of the people involved.
The footageshows the boy pointing into the distance and saying in English: “We are going to go kill the kaffir (non-believers) over there”.
The masked murderer in the latest ISIS propaganda video is believed to be a British man who fled London in 2014 after skipping bail, NBC News reported. “How odd it is that we find ourselves today hearing an insignificant leader like you challenge the might of the Islamic State”, the masked man says. However, neither she nor security experts said they could be certain it was him.
