New Karma Owner Wants to Build Electric Cars
Powertrain details haven’t been released but Karma has said it’s using numerous same suppliers as the original Fisker sedan.
Karma Automotive will build a new facility in China that can produce up to 50,000 cars per year, reports Bloomberg. The vehicle however did not go into production but it looks like Karma is going to revive it.
The company-owned stores will be launched in states and markets that are more friendly to this type of retail experience.
Jim Tailor, Karma’s Chief Marketing Officer, has explained that the trained sales personnel in the franchised dealerships already understand high-end customers, so that the sale of new models from Karma will not be a challenge for them. The upscale audience served by these 10 dealers could be a good fit for Karma, including the Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche brands. It will sell the Revero through a new network of 10 dealerships in major luxury markets in the US and Canada, at a starting price above the old Fisker’s $110,000 mark.
Karma Automotive appears to be making progress in resurrecting the vehicle formerly known as the Fisker Karma. It reportedly also plans to establish an Orange Country Brand Experience Center in Southern California. Expect the company to publish teaser images throughout August.
“When you control your own store, you live it every day, so you have to walk the walk”, Taylor said.
Dealers are reportedly taking orders for the auto, at prices somewhere north of $100,000.
Now called the Karma Revero, the luxury sedan recently entered pilot production at a new factory in Moreno Valley, California.
According to Auto Blog, most of the cars to be produced in the new factory will be the two-door Atlantic, which was originally introduced by Fisker in 2012 but was never realized.
