New Liverpool striker Danny Ings backs ‘perfect’ Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool finished sixth in the league last season and have chosen to sign Ings as an upgrade on their current options up front, with players like Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini badly struggling to meet expectations, while Daniel Sturridge missed large chunks of the season through injury. According to The Daily Mail, Ings was able to take part in his first training session with his new club.
Ings, 22, agreed a move to Anfield on June 8, but the details of the transfer have still not been agreed by the two clubs, sources have told ESPN FC.
After initial interest from the Reds the clubs were unable to agree a deal with a £5million bid was turned down by the Clarets and Liverpool refused to loan a player to Turf Moor, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
“He’s an unbelievable striker”, Ings said of Sturridge. For a player like me, I think it will be flawless to work with him; I’m really looking forward to getting that relationship with him and the rest of the coaches and the players as well. “Now he’s here and he’s established; he’s a fantastic, talented football player I can learn from”. “It’s something I’m really excited to do”.
“He is fantastic at developing young players”.
“Then obviously I’ll see how his team plays and how I can adapt to the way that Liverpool play”.
“I had a chat with my agent and a few friends and we thought that moving to such a big club like this, you need to take all the pressure off yourself”.
Just weeks before the start of the Barclays Premier League season, several questions remain about Liverpool heading into the 2015-2016 season.
“He is one of those players who has come through the ranks, he has not had it easy”.
