New London’s Kris Dunn Selected By Timberwolves in NBA Draft
Dunn is 6-foot-4 and has ideal height for the point guard position.
As a junior in 2015-16, Dunn averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.5 steals, and was named Big East Player of the Year, Big East Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-American.
Dunn, also a great defender, won the Big East defensive player of the year the past two years, and he’s excited to bring that to Minnesota.
The arrival of Kris Dunn should have some consequences for Ricky Rubio, the current point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
I think it’s important to recognize that there can be a middle ground.
Not to mention, Dunn will learn from Rubio on the offense, and that’s how you develop as a player. It’s no secret that the Wolves are at least exploring the idea of trading Rubio, and their decision to take Dunn at No. 5 only increases the chances of a move.
Dunn was embraced by his coach upon selection, and also wore a jacket that made tribute to his hometown. According to John Buhler of Sports Illustrated’s Fansided, the Chicago Bulls could be a potential destination for Rubio, with the team needing a starting point guard to replace Derrick Rose.
While Murray didn’t work out for the Sixers, they saw him work out with expected No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram of Duke in NY.
“We have more experience, we are tough”, Hield said of himself and Dunn.
You can follow Dunn on Twitter @KrisDunn3 and he only has 32 tweets, so he’s probably not going to get a social media internship anytime soon. “I just can’t wait to learn more on that side of the ball”. Okay, I’m saying that as a Providence College fan, but at PC, he was a beast who has great offense and defense, but he is still a great player that did many great things for PC.
“He innately has a lot of toughness”, Thibodeau said. “I can help with my shooting, I can score, space the floor and, being a point guard that can score, I can find other people”.
