New ‘Low-Cost’ Airline NewLeaf to Unveil Fares, Routes
“The ultra-low-cost business model we’re using has proven successful around the world, and we’re excited to bring it to Canada”.
The first flight from discount travel company NewLeaf Travel is scheduled to take off in February.
“We want to spread the love to Canada’s smaller airports due to their laid back atmosphere, cheaper parking and awesome baggage handling”, a statement says on the company’s website.
The airline says its main routes will be non-stop flights not now offered by other companies, including Kelowna and Hamilton. Its website, however, failed to generate any fares on Wednesday morning. Flights to Hamilton will still run on Thursdays and a new non-stop route from Regina to Abbotsford, B.C. will fly on Mondays and Saturdays.
The new carrier will offer flights between Hamilton and Halifax, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon and Kelowna, B.C.
Telephone booking service will also be available, for a fee, seven days-a-week from 8:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. Central Time at 204-888-BOOK and customer assistance available at 204-888-HELP.
According to NewLeaf’s website, the airline is a privately-owned Canadian company based out of the James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in Winnipeg.
To actually operate the aircraft, NewLeaf adds it’s partnered with a firm called Flair Air. CanJet operated charter flights using a Boeing 737-800, based out of Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
