New Low For Malloy In Q Poll
“Malloy is getting hammered on the critical pocketbook issues: taxes, the budget and the economy and jobs”, said Douglas Schwartz, the poll’s director.
This is the lowest score for any governor in the nine states surveyed this year by the Quinnipiac.
Governor Dannel Malloy said these programs will cut off what he calls the “school to prison pipeline”. Nothing in this survey strengthens Malloy’s hand in dealing with lawmakers.
“Go inside early, start tracking men and women three to six months prior to release”, said Graves.
Seventy-two percent disapproved of Malloy’s handling of the budget.
75 percent of Connecticut voters say the state’s economy is either not good or poor.
The poll was an across-the-board repudiation of the governor. In the latest survey, 49 percent of voters replied “no” when asked if they considered him “honest and trustworthy” or a strong leader.
And within his own party, Democrats approve of the job he’s doing by a 58%.
It had been 43 to 47 percent in March.
His rating on transportation, a second-term priority, offered cold comfort.
38 – 45 percent for handling crime.
“Connecticut is esteemed and respected because we’re at the forefront of the Second Chance movement in this country”, said U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal LAW ’73 and Gov. Dannel Malloy to City Hall, highlighting the progress of Connecticut’s “Second Chance Society”, a grant that aims to cut Connecticut recidivism by half in five years.
Among Connecticut Democrats, Malloy is holding a 58 to 33 percent approval rating while his disapproval rating stands at 86 to 8 percent among state Republicans. Wolf is a declared candidate. “University of New Haven is so proud to be working with these stakeholders arm in arm … so we can clear the path to criminal justice reform”, Gaboury said.
The grants comprise “additional steps and efforts to make our communities safer, further reduce our state’s already dropping crime rate and ensure that nonviolent offenders be productive members of our society so that they can contribute to our economy instead of becoming career criminals”, Malloy said.
The poll was conducted from October 7 to October 11.
