New Option to Delete Games Permanently From Steam Library
First, and this should go without saying, but just in case, uninstall the game before you delete it. Otherwise, the local data will still be sitting on your PC for no reason what so ever. It should be noted that removing a game from your Steam library does not give you a refund on your purchase, so if you want to get rid of a game you actually purchased, you may want to reconsider as we hear money does not, in fact, grow on trees.
Do you have a collection of games on Valve‘s Steam that you know you’re never going to play ever again? See, when you redeem such packages on Steam, you’re technically subscribing to them all at once, so un-subscribing works the same way. Open its help page and then click “I want to permanently remove this game from my account”.
Anyway, Valve added an option to Steam recently that enables you to delete games from the account permanently.
Sign-in to your Steam account if you have not done so already. And voila! The game will be deleted.
There are only a few situations where deleting games makes sense. You want it gone forever.
Then there are situations where you may have been banned permanently from a game’s multiplayer. If the game is part of a bundle, or has associated DLC, those will also be included and removed as well, and you’ll be warned of that, too.
Right-click on the game in your library and select “set categories” from the context menu.
There are so many games in my library that I didn’t like or won’t end up playing, and I hate being reminded about my wasteful ways.
