New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans
There is a renewed sense of optimism in Houston for today’s New Orleans Saints vs Houston Texans football game.
In the team’s first game since defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was sacked and replaced by Dennis Allen, the Saints defense failed to stop big plays by Brian Hoyer.
Indeed, Hoyer, back in the side after missing last week through concussion, was successful on his opening 11 pass attempts, but his first failure resulted in an interception by Jairus Byrd as the Saints were handed their best attacking platform of the game up to that point.
Kareem Jackson, who returned after missing four games with an ankle injury, intercepted Brees at the goal line in the third quarter and returned it 50 yards.
The Saints have lost their last two games, while the Texans are on a three game winning streak.
Drew Brees and the offensive juggernaut of the Saints will be tested against the stringent defense of the Texans. Griffin missed seven games on short-term injured reserve, and the touchdown marked the Texans’ first score on an opening possession this season…. Alfred Blue led in rushing with 58 yards in 21 carries.
Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against the New York Jets. Saints QB Drew Brees surpassed 3,000 passing yards for the season in the first half, joining Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks in league history with 13 3,000-yard seasons….
