New PS4 price cut Vs Xbox One for Holiday 2015
This converts to $292 in Dollars terms.
According to a recent online listing by retailer Target, Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 will be getting a price cut by $50 in the USA, bringing the console price to $349.99. However, the wording in this image suggests it’s referring to a permanent price drop.
Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand (SCENZ) has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 is being discontinued in New Zealand, signalling the beginning of the end for seventh-generation consoles.
It seems that the price cut info was accidentally leaked ahead of an official announcement by the company. The Japanese market has been at its weakest to date in sales and the price drop might be in order to instigate renewed interest and increase sales in the region.
Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, also recently stated that the PlayStation 4 may witness a price cut later this year.
It looks like Sony are finally ready to announce the PS4 price cut in 2015 that everyone has been waiting for. However, these are for a few of the older packages, the ones touting Destiny and The Last of Us: Remastered, rather than models featuring titles coming out this fall – such as The Nathan Drake Collection bundle, which Target simultaneously advertises at $349.99 (as pictured above), and $399.99 on its product page.
Destructoid reached out to Sony for comment, but has not received a response at this time.
