New Single: “Work” by Rihanna featuring Drake
Though for the week, “Anti” remains streaming exclusively on Tidal, Rihanna has already chosen to give away a select few free download codes (available even to non-subscribers of Tidal) through a Tweet. I’m so grateful that you appreciate the #ANTI album!
Yahoo! reports that the reason behind the two-month delay of Rihanna’s latest album release could be a marketing move to stay out of Adele’s release of “25”.
Rihanna announced the release “Work“, which features rapper Drake, via Twitter on Wednesday.
Rihanna surprise-released ANTI on Wednesday night (Jan. 27) and soon followed up her exclusive TIDAL stream with a free download for all of her fans.
The release of ANTI has been a long time coming, and the feeling by some online users was that all the hype may have dropped surrounding the album, and it may not do too well in its first week. The track featured Drake and quickly climbed up the iTunes charts.
Oddly enough, however, this version of ANTI noticeably does not include any of the former singles that supposedly were slated for the album.
Crissy Milazzo, writing for TeenVogue, praised Rihanna for choosing “quality over air play” with her less-than-mainstream tracks. The album shocked many especially after a new single made its appearance the same day. This led to rumors that the album was going to be released on January 6, then on January 16, but the album didn’t make its debut on those dates.
None of the music that Rihanna released as singles in 2015 is included on Anti such as her collaboration with Paul McCartney and Kanye West, FourFiveSeconds, or American Oxygen and Better Have My Money.
The 13-track album made its way to adoring fans via Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal, which presumably published the list of songs accidentally last night.
