New sponsor coughs up cash for Lochte as others bail out
In the wake of the events of the Olympic Games in Rio, Ryan Lochte needs all of the positive publicity he can get.
After Ryan Lochte lost all four of his commercial endorsers following a deceitful jaunt at the Rio Olympics, the 12-time medalist recouped some of his losses in signing a new endorsement deal Thursday with the cough drop company Pine Bros. Pine Bros. cough drops have just announced Lochte as their new sponsor.
Speedo, Polo Ralph Lauren, mattress manufacturer Airweave and Gentle Hair Removal – Lochte’s previous endorsements – all dropped him following the incident. “I look forward to making you proud”.
In that statement he stated that everyone makes mistakes, however, for most people those mistakes rarely make the front page under intense and overwhelming scrutiny.
Lochte couldn’t be reached for comment, but he tweeted about the endorsement. According to Rider McDowell, the swimmer is an overall great guy who has also done some really incredible work with a number of charitable organizations.
Lochte, 32, won one gold medal at the Rio Olympics.
“Thanks to all the folks at pine bros. for your confidence in me”.
“And that’s why I’m taking full responsibility for it, is because I over-exaggerated that story, and if I had never done that, we wouldn’t be in this mess”, Lochte explained to NBC’s Matt Lauer, in his only interview about the scandal so far.
