New ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer Hits Like a ‘Sledgehammer’

Rihanna has dropped her new single, Sledgehammer.

The chart star had teased the track – titled Sledgehammer – on Instagram, telling fans yesterday: “Got something for y’all tomorrow”.

The main plot is still under wraps but the footage already released promises an unforgettable Star Trek experience. Check out the Star Trek Beyond trailer below for a snippet of the new Rihanna song!

Rihanna is now in the United Kingdom on tour to support her Anti album. Plus, as the song continues in line with the rest of the Star Trek Beyond trailer, the words combined with the visuals strike a flawless cord that is both intense and even chill worthy.

Rihanna also took to Twitter to make the announcement. Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer”, however, sets the tone for some of the action expected in “Beyond”. Hey, at least it’s not almost as overbearing as “Sabotage” is in that first trailer. It was announced hot on the heels of the new, third trailer for Beyond.

Fans of Rih and the Star Trek franchise were understandably excited. Star Trek: Beyond comes out in theaters on July 22nd. The first two, directed by J.J. Abrams, rebooted the Star Trek timeline, using the characters from the original series in new situations (thanks to some time travel goofiness).
