New Star Trek TV Series Will Boldly Go On Netflix
Netflix has announced it has obtained the global streaming rights to the new Star Trek television series, which will air on CBS in the United States.
Almost 200 countries around the world will be able to explore TV’s most-anticipated show about the final frontier, as Netflix has announced that it has secured global streaming rights to CBS’ upcoming Star Trek TV series.
On top of that, Netflix recently secured the rights to all 727 existing episodes of Star Trek including the original series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise to stream worldwide. The episodes will be streamed within 24 hours of their US premiere.
If, like me, you gave up on the Star Trek movie franchise around midway through the last movie – then you’re probably ignoring the casting of Chris Hemsworth in Star Trek 4 and instead pinning your hopes on the new TV series CBS have in the works.
Star Trek All Access is set to begin production in September in Toronto, Canada, and is scheduled to premiere in January 2017.
This will see its return to television for the first time since 2005 – with a new ship, new characters and new missions. The premiere episode will air on the CBS cable channel, but it and subsequent episodes will be restricted to All Access after that.
The premiere episode and all subsequent episodes will then be available in the USA exclusively on CBS All Access, the network’s digital subscription video-on-demand and live streaming service.
Including the original series and “Next Generation” films, the next “Star Trek” installment will be the 14th film in the long-running space adventure series.
Meanwhile, Star Trek Beyond will be in theaters on July 22, 2016. Kurtzman is also an executive producer for the hit CBS television series Scorpion and Limitless, along with Kadin and Orci, and for Hawaii Five-0 with Orci.
