New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Focuses on the Dark Side
To see it, type: “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” into Google, (without the quotation marks) and watch as your results scroll upward across a galactic background, reminiscent of the Star Wars’ iconic opening credits.
Note: A side-effect of choosing a site is that Star Wars related events will be added to Google Calendar. Who wants to learn about intergalactic trade troubles in a format that may be the most hard way to read anything?
Specifically, the retailer is now taking orders on some of the new Disney Infinity 3.0 characters from Star Wars The Force Awakens. Now Google has chose to join the fun with one of the coolest Easter eggs we have ever seen. “Have you felt it?”, without knowing what the words meant or who they were aimed at. Han Solo [Harrison Ford] and Chewbacca make an appearance, along with Star Wars newbies Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, and Finn, portrayed by John Boyega.
Google worked with Lucasfilm and Disney to build google.com/starwars where users can choose the light or dark side to have their Google experience Gmail, Google Maps and Chrome transform to reflect their chosen “Force” path.
We’re pretty sure that die-hard Star Wars fans are going to spend the rest of their day doing this on Google Search.
Well, it might be hard to click on any of the search results, but we do not think there will be many complaints when it comes to that.
To get started visit the Star Wars Experience side on Google. If it isn’t quite clear how to get rid of all these new themes, rest easy: Google does allow for switching between Light and Dark sides, or turning the whole thing off just by repositioning your avatar.
This is the latest in a long line of Easter eggs, which is tech slang for hidden treasures in the form of source code, that have popped up in online searches, video games and DVDs.
