New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ TV spot
The new images from the set of the next Star Wars film, titled Rogue One, will only help wet their appetites as The Mirror posted photographs from the set of the anthology film this weekend.
Along with Chuck Wendig’s Star Wars: Aftermath series of novels, Shattered Empire bridges the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Notice the new TIE-Fighters and Walkers just behind them.
The First Order army looked daunting. Shortly after the worldwide trailer, Lucasfilm released a high resolution still which confirmed that the army in the trailer was The First Order. According to the director, while they would like to share more of the movie to a large crowd, there is a certain challenge in editing and rushing a special footage presentation for a preexisting event.
While we didn’t see a new trailer at Comic Con last month like we would have liked, we have been given a new look at the film in the form of the first television spot to pop up.
It’s mostly re-edited from the previous two teasers, with a lot of focus on the new characters, all to the words of Andy Serkis’ Supreme Leader Snoke saying “There has been an awakening, have you felt it?“.
We open up in the midst of a snowy mountain terrain where thousands of stormtroopers and officers gather before a stage facing Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).
The trailer once again spotlights Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and his controversial crossguard lightsaber, with a few glimpses of heroes Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and new droid BB-8.
Pundits reckon we’re looking at The First Order – an organisation comprised of the remnants of the Galactic Empire which was having so much trouble by the end of the first trilogy of films. Fitting, in that Sith was arguably the most drama-laden episode of the six movies so far and from what we’ve seen and heard The Force Awakens will follow that pattern.
