New subscribers can get three months of Google Play Music for $1
Google Play is offering albums at 50% off during the holiday season, Digital Spy reports.
“With a number of consumers likely to be giving or receiving Android devices over Christmas, offering a reduction for a subscriber service such as Play Music is probably a good way to introduce new Android device owners to the service and maybe even manage to keep them subscribing once the three-month period has ended”, wrote Android Headlines. The Google Play Store wants to help you with that, as it has a series of last-minute deals, though the one that stands out for us is the option to subscribe to Google Play Music for just one dollar for the first three months. Like the other holiday deals, this one is only available in certain countries.
Play Music is Google’s streaming service for which subscribers usually pay $9.99 every month, with the exception of the Family pack, which allows a 6 family members to have access to the streaming service together, from only one subscription. Minecraft for Android can be purchased for 10 cents, while some of the in-app purchases on Google Play have been discounted to as low as 10% of the original price. Amassing that kind of user base could be a tall order for Google, particularly since it does not have a popular smartphone to pair the service with like its competitor.
Some of the selected in-app purchases will also be offered at a discounted rates of up to 90 percent.
Apart from the US, Google Play Music’s new discount has been offered only in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, Brazil, France and Japan. With a Google Play Music subscription, you get to access a library of 35 million songs, ad-free.
