New Tropical Depression Forms In Atlantic
The tenth tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic and is expected to strengthen over the next 48 hours.
The National Hurricane Center thinks there is a chance, and was watching a disturbance near Florida for development on Friday morning. Some models predict that the storm will meander off the east coasts of Florida and Georgia before heading out into the open Atlantic while other spaghetti plots take the storm parallel to the USA mid-Atlantic states.
2) Tropical Depression Nine is about 1000 miles East-Northeast of the Lesser Antilles and is moving slowly North-Northwest.
The second tropical depression developed Friday morning and was located about 870 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands as of 10 a.m. CDT.
Closer to home, an area of low pressure could form into a tropical system over the next few days off the coast of the Carolinas but will continue to push northeastward away from the U.S. regardless of development.
For now, a flood watch is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. “After that time, conditions are expected to become less conducive for tropical cyclone formation”, the hurricane centre said.
The National Weather Service is expecting dry, but warm weather Friday through the weekend, with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s, and highs in the low to mid 90s.
