New update for OnePlus 3 fixes display and RAM problems
A couple of weeks back, OnePlus began issuing a software update to some OnePlus 3 units that included an sRGB mode, better RAM management, and other various bug fixes.
OnePlus has rolled out an update to its Oxygen OS for its recently-launched flagship smartphone OnePlus 3. That said, some questions were thrown at the young Chinese company for the way their display was configured and especially at how aggressive the RAM management was in killing apps.
It’s unclear exactly what prompted OnePlus to suspend the update, nor when the rollout will resume.
This update is rolling out incrementally, which means that it may not show up on your OnePlus 3 right away. As such, it remains to be seen how much of an effect the update will have on battery life once the update has been installed.
Off all the issues with OnePlus 3, two problems stood out. The update was supposed to address not only issues with memory management, but also introduce sRGB mode for the Optic AMOLED screen. The OxygenOS 3.2.0 also came with improved camera quality and enabled sRGB mode in developer options. The list goes on with improved Global Positioning System performance, enhanced audio quality and camera improvements, among other things. With the new firmware update, the handset is also entitled to Google’s monthly security update. Now it seems that the OxygenOS 3.2.0 update that OnePlus released yesterday was temporarily halted.
It offers OnePlus owners an unobtrusively distinctive look and feel that matches their hardware, though PCMag’s Sascha Segan found it to be otherwise pointless in his review of the unlocked OnePlus 3. But only time will tell if OnePlus 3 will win more hearts thanks to this approach.
