New World of Warcraft expansion will be announced at Gamescom next week
Blizzard has plenty of incentive to hold their attention.
The event starts at 4am on Friday, August 7 NZST (Thursday, August 6 at 9 a.m. PDT), during which Blizzard will be “unveiling the next chapter of the World of Warcraft saga”. Blizzard will then follow up with another event on Sunday, August 8th that promises to include some more details on the upcoming expansion.
A recent trademark listing indicated that the next expansion could be called “Council of Glades”. Azshara is a prominent character in World of Warcraft lore, the former queen of the Night Elves and current ruler of the malevolent naga. Now with an announcement in August, it is likely the latest expansion fits the yearly release that World of Warcraft aim for now.
Another Gamescom 2015 reveal has been confirmed and this time it will be for World of Warcraft. If you still play World of Warcraft, what do you want to see added in the expansion? Popular fan theories in the past have pointed at an Emerald Dream or Azshara-based expansion (complete with playable Naga!), but as we ended up with kung-fu pandas the time before last, it’s really anyone’s guess. Of course that number always spikes with the introduction of any major expansion, with Warlords of Draenor resulting in a jump to around 10 million, before dropping back down.
