Bernice King is the youngest child of Martin Luther King, left, and his wife Coretta Scott King. “The church when I got there that evening, the church was filled with flowers”. In a completely inspiring, brave, and undaunted move, she founded The King Center in 1969, one year after her husband’s murder, in the basement of the family home in Vine City, Georgia.
“I think Martin Luther King would say that it’s time for all of us to unify, to recognize that as much as we think we’re different, we’re very much the same”, said Baltimore Mayor Cathering Pugh. “That we are all equal”.
“It makes the entire state look bad”, one person wrote on Biloxi’s Facebook page, according to Huffington Post.
“When I went to Chicago he came there”, said Johnson. “It’s unacceptable. We need to be talking about how to clothe people, how do we feed people”. As we consider giving new life to his dream, we have to acknowledge that in Dr. King’s speaking and writings all began with God.
Eight people were injured as gunfire rang out Monday during a festival near Martin Luther King Jr. That a generation later too many feel they have been forgotten by a society that overall is vastly better today should be a call for us to address that concern with something other than vague platitudes and torrents of tweets. “We can not turn back”.
“There’s an incredible amount of energy, and enthusiasm and feeling of camaraderie”, says Todd Bernstein, director of Philadelphia’s MLK Day of Service. A motorcade/parade will form at 10 a.m.at the corner of Main and Logan streets, and the procession will start at 10:30 a.m. I decided I wanted to answer Dr. King’s question in the affirmative, and I work every day to “walk in the light of creative altruism”.
