New York Giants Beat Dallas Cowboys, 27-20
The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys will renew their bitter rivalry this afternoon. Rashard Jennings and Shane Vereen will have big roles in this game as well as the Cowboys have had trouble defending the run the last couple games so it’ll be smart if the Giants were to test the Dallas run defense early. The Seattle Seahawks should be able to establish their running game against that Dallas defense next week.
-Wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice on Wednesday and if he doesn’t get on the field Thursday its unlikely he will play against the Giants on Sunday.
The Cowboys jumped out to an immediate 3-0 lead on the first of kicker Dan Bailey’s two field goals. In their first matchup during Week 1, the Giants won by a hairline, 27-26, with Dallas’ lineup still intact.
Oh yeah, and we got to see the re-emergence of Darren McFadden for the Cowboys after it seemed like the starting job would go to Christine Michael following an increased workload this week. It also brought back memories of their debacle in Philadelphia last season, the one that sent them on a seven-game losing streak in missing the playoffs for the third straight year. Their first touchdown of the game came on the ground courtesy or Nerlens Darkwa.
The move cost the Giants their most productive pass-rusher of the season; Moore leads the Giants with three sacks, and in the last two games, he’s the lone Giant to record a sack.
-The bye week came at a good time for quarterback Matt Cassel, who had his fourth child on Saturday.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant reportedly felt a few discomfort in his foot last week, and the team will make sure the bone is completely healed before he returns, according to NFL Insider Jay Glazer.
Giants placekicker Josh Brown is willing to throw out Monday night’s mess against the Eagles, saying it was the only game the Giants did not have a chance to win in the closing minutes.
Dwayne Harris’ 100-yard kick-off return proved the difference between the sides as Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel was intercepted three times in a woeful second-half display.
If the Giants can get to Cassel, either through blitz or a four-man rush, it will take pressure off the thin secondary. Craig “Iron Head” Heyward played 11 seasons in the National Football League as a running back.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin added: “Obviously, Dallas has an outstanding offensive line”.
