New York Giants share NFC East lead after beating Miami Dolphins
The New York Giants rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit thanks to two late touchdown catches by Odell Beckham Jr., and Miami was eliminated from the playoff race with a 31-24 loss. His primary responsibility Monday was Odell Beckham Jr., who caught seven passes for 166 yards and two scores.
The Miami Dolphins announced today that the team has been awarded defensive end Damontre Moore off waivers from the New York Giants.
When asked if losing has become more than he can handle Campbell said, “I would say this: I’ve been here six years and nothing has gone the way we wanted it to be”.
Manning was a quiet assassin on Monday night, throwing as many touchdown passes (four) as incompletions, routinely picking apart the Dolphins secondary and putting the Giants on his back. His passer rating of 151.5 was his highest since 2009, and his 87-percent completion percentage was a career high.
While the Giants’ win placed them back in contention for first while effectively ending their three-game losing streak, they can not afford to lose any more games this season if they plan on making their playoff dreams a reality. “We’ve got three games to go”, Campbell said. They’ll look to improve their standing against the Titans next Sunday, and they’ll finish the season with division games against the Jets and Dolphins.
Now, Moore, who has delivered 8.5 sacks in his three seasons with the Giants per ESPN stats, will be officially part of the Dolphins lineup.
Miami got two rushing touchdowns from running back Lamar Miller and a TD throw from quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Odell Beckham scored the last two touchdowns of the game, securing the win for the Giants.
-WR Jarvis Landry had 11 catches for 99 yards, falling just short of what would have been his third 100-yard game of the season.
“We played well, and we won because we played a complete game”.
Beckham gave Manning credit for cooking up the pivotal play. It appeared Taylor thought he would have help over the top from strong safety Reshad Jones, but Jones said that wasn’t the case. His final reception, a diving grab on third down at midfield, sealed the victory with less than 2 minutes left.
The Jekyll and Hyde New York Giants woke up this morning with reason for optimism. “If coverage dictates that they go (Grimes’) way, then they’ll throw it. The made some plays”.
On that catch, the second-year player showed awesome footwork in catching the pass dangerously close to the end-zone sideline where he got his first foot inbounds with about an inch to spare while dragging his second foot and maintaining control of the ball.
On Monday night, the patchwork offensive line put together a strong performance that allowed Manning and Beckham to shine.
“It does keep us alive”, Coughlin said. It would be the last lead of the game for Miami.
Even with the lead Beckham granted them, the Giants had to make stops.
The teams were tied 17-17 at the half as Miller had scoring runs of 14 and 38 yards, and Miami also got a 36-yard field goal by kicker Andrew Franks.
The Giants’ defense was getting ripped by the Dolphins by ground and by air Monday night. Their second loss of the season came week 4 against Denver, a game that started at 3:25 CT.
