New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins
Washington is a three-point home underdog at Las Vegas sportsbooks, according to vegasinsider.com.
NY is starting to look like a playoff contender in the NFC; the same can not be said about the Redskins, there are just too many holes in Washington’s game to take them seriously against elite teams. Odell Beckham Jr. said he watched the Thanksgiving games because he’s a football fan, and wasn’t rooting for the Eagles and Cowboys to fall flat, though he did say “it was a good feeling” to see the Giants’ position atop the division improve without playing a down. The Giants have made the former Spartan signal caller’s life miserable with six interceptions in the last two games that Cousins started against them.
But they are unbeaten in four out of their five home games this season as they reach a stage of the campaign where Jay Gruden’s ability as a head coach comes under increased scrutiny.
At 3-8 and with their quarterback done for the year, the Cowboys’ season is likely over. All in all, the Giants own the rivalry 98-65-4. The Redskins now sit at 4-6 on the season and are only one game behind the New York Giants in the NFC East. Washington has been consistently up and down all year.
Added Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall: “I don’t know what his catch radius is, I don’t know what his wingspan and all that is, but any time you can move your body and contour yourself the way he does to make plays [is special]”. Washington has played many make-or-break games it seems this season.
Analysis: It’s not the easiest schedule after Sunday because of the Panthers’ and Vikings’ games, but three of these teams are struggling. The Redskins have wins over the Rams, Eagles, Buccaners and Saints. Cousins completes 68 percent of his passes, and he has 15 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions on the campaign. One of those such performances came in Week 3 against the Giants when Cousins was intercepted twice.
This season, Randle hasn’t been able to hoard as many opportunities with just 5.5 targets per game heading his way, but he has undoubtedly done a better job of taking advantage of the attention OBJ has commanded on the opposite side.
The Giants and Redskins meet for the 166th time on Sunday at Fed Ex Field.
Nicks had the bye week to learn the Giants’ new offense.
Eli Manning is having the best statistical season of his career, and he could be in for a big day on Sunday.
The biggest question involves which Redskins team will show up on Sunday. Unfortunately for the ‘Skins, the 44-16 loss highlighted the weaknesses of their squad, and it placed the team on the edge of the playoff cliff, as the Redskins now sport a 4-6 mark coming into this week’s match-up. The Redskins don’t have much of a pass rush, ranking 27th with just 17 sacks. What a bye week for the team as a whole! That’s exactly what the Giants need to do again if they want to survive.
One player who was absent from that game for the Redskins was wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who tore a hamstring on the opening weekend and has gradually eased his way back into the rotation.
On the other hand, NY could pretty much end the suspense by picking up what would be a sixth consecutive victory over Washington and moving comfortably in front.
