New York Knicks Won’t Rush Kristaps Porzingis
“Like Shawn Bradley, who was nevertheless a pretty good player, KP might nearly be too tall for the game”, Jackson said in ESPN’s The Phil Files. In Part 8 of the series, we’re finally past all the losers and scumbags of 2014-15 and ready to discuss the winners Phil Jackson drafted to make America great again! “What I mean is that his core strength might never be good enough, and that he might not be able to get low enough to get himself into prime defensive position to body power rebounders or drivers”. He hasn’t held back about why the Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis, but the recent comparison to Shawn Bradley shouldn’t invite great confidence for fans in New York. In the latest edition of his discussion with Charley Rosen for ESPN, the Zen Master reveals that trusted scout Clarence Gaines was the one who convinced him to take Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in this year’s draft.
Though, according to Herring, Jackson doesn’t read as much anymore because he doesn’t travel with the team, he said, “a book is still something that can grab [the players’] attention when it’s good or in their zone”. Porzingis obviously will have a harder time when he has defenders in his face, but he performed well in the summer league and will get the chance to contribute this season. Porzingis has a more polished offensive game than defensive game and he will have to work on that side of the court.
Throughout his distinguished career in the sport of basketball, we have seen many different sides of Knicks president Phil Jackson. The Knicks probably won’t be putting Porzingis on the same 7000 calorie a day diet that the Philadelphia 76ers decided on with Bradley, but the difference between the size of medical and training staff in Baloncesto Sevilla and MSG should make an impact. “The young man certainly stepped up”, says Jackson.
Jackson thinks Grant will be able to play both guard spots. “But his natural bent is to be a team player”. There may be no better instance of that than the rookie showing off his new socks. “When you grow (as fast Kris has), your body has a whole new neural field, basically”, Sanders said. I’d compare him to a stronger version of Luis Scola.

While Porzingis has a ways to go to live up to that (to say the absolute least), he just needs to put enough meat on his bones to simply survive in the National Basketball Association. “He’s quick, has 3-point range, knows how to pass, can break a defense down with his handle, knows how to get through screens and is comfortable getting people involved on offense”.
