New York man drowns at beach in Ocean County after crews conduct search | PhillyVoice
The 22-year-old Yonkers, New York man who died in the surf Saturday drowned off a municipally-owned beach in Mantoloking that was not staffed with lifeguards. He was located on the beach off of Strickland Street.
Crimmins’ stepfather, Yonkers Schools Superintendent Michael Yazurlo, issued a statement to the Journal News confirming his death.
A massive search for the unidentified man began after he disappeared from sight at around 2:35 p.m., according to the Asbury Park Press.
He was rushed to Ocean Medical Center in Brick where he was pronounced dead.
Crimmins, a student at the University at Albany, is also survived by his mother Nancy and sister Nicole. Searchers from the USA Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police and fire crews from surrounding communities responded, scouring the water.
Police are investigating the incident.
