New York Republicans Rip Ted Cruz on ‘New York Values’
Texas lawyer has filed the first suit seeking clarification on whether Republican candidate Ted Cruz is eligible to be president because he was born in Canada. Trump nemeses Megyn Kelly and Charles Krauthammer applauded him after the debate ended for the shrewdness of his answer.
Since the summer, Trump has gathered thousands of people into stadiums and farms like the one he lit up Friday in Urbandale, Iowa.
Kasich was given regular questions by the moderators but was not engaged by the other candidates as much as Trump, Cruz, Rubio and Christie.
The NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll was conducted between Saturday and Wednesday, with a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
Top-tier GOP candidates debated a range of issues, including foreign policy, in Thursday night’s Republican primary debate on the Fox Business network.
The U.S. Constitution says a president or vice president must be a “natural born citizen” but does not say whether the term means the candidate must be born on U.S. soil or just be a citizen at birth. He maintains he qualifies as a natural-born citizen and can be president. “That’s why John McCain, even though he was born in Panama, was eligible to run for president”. “Ted Cruz is an ideologue that has no ability, in my view, to bring the country together”.
With Trump now needing to fend off Cruz’s rise in Iowa, he pushed his charge that Cruz may not be constitutionally qualified to serve as president because he was born in Canada.
“I have concluded without any hesitation, any doubt, that Jeb Bush is worthy to be commander-in-chief on day one”, Graham said Friday at a joint press conference with Bush.
Cruz attacked Trump, accusing him of not being a true conservative since he comes from NY and represented “New York values”. Cruz said those values – pro-abortion rights, including supporting partial birth abortion and pro-gay marriage – explained Trump’s worldview.
Cruz, who is the former Texas attorney general and has argued multiple cases before the Supreme Court, has stated emphatically that the law is clear regarding the matter.
Cruz’s comments also raised concerns by some because, historically, saying something is “too New York” has sometimes been code for “too Jewish”.
“That’s a pretty big mistake to make”, Trump said, rejecting Cruz’s statement that a New York Times report this week on his Goldman Sachs and Citibank loans had blown a paperwork error out of proportion.
Cruz wasn’t the only candidate to attack the White House for using diplomacy to secure the release of the 10 sailors.
“You had two 110-story buildings come crashing down”.
And declaring that people who think a certain way “have no place in the state of New York” sure sounds like rank “demonizing” to us.
On the issue of his much-publicized remark that the USA should ban all Muslims from entering the country due to to the threat of terrorism, Trump doubled down on his position, saying that “we have to stop with political correctness”. “And I won’t be angry when we fix it”. The smell was in the air.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton also used Twitter to come to Trump’s defense.
“It’s disheartening to go through another cycle where politicians are trying to divide us”, he said.
Dismissing this humiliating incident, Obama is now “preparing to send $100 billion, or more, to Ayatollah Khameini”. He added, “Cruz knows Trump’s not Jewish, right?”Cameron Gray (@Cameron_Gray) said, “As a Jewish conservative born in Brooklyn, I proudly have #NewYorkValues”.
