Newcastle “Still In Transfer Market For One Or Two Players”, Claims McClaren
The 21 year old Serbian global joined Newcastle from Belgian side Anderlecht from £13 million in the summer and is a massive threat in the air but his discipline is appalling to say the least.
“I thought Jeff was a little more quiet today, but you could see their tactic was basically to try to kick him”, said Monk, who insisted Newcastle full-back Daryl Janmaat was right to be sent-off for his bruising challenges on Montero.
McClaren, cruelly dubbed the “Wally with the brolly” after defeat in a downpour during his final days as England boss, is still searching for his first win as Toon boss after two games in charge.
Newcastle were second best at the Liberty Stadium and now must face both Manchester United and Arsenal before the month is out.
“If anything it made them more narrow and hard to beat”.
The report indicates that McClaren wants to get rid of any dead wood and there were suggestions that Taylor’s future at the club was under scrutiny.
Starting Lineups will be added in as they come available. The hosts’ Jonjo Shelvey especially was a massive influence and bossed proceedings from the early stages.
“The Swans continue to do a terrific job in putting the city on the map across the world, so we’ll continue to do all we can to make the most of the exposure they generate”, said Mr Francis-Davies.
One new signing, Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht, was booked within three seconds on his debut the previous week and received another yellow card within two minutes of his introduction as substitute here. (He later apologised).
An Andre Ayew header, seven minutes into the second half from a Jefferson Montero cross sealed victory for Swansea over 10-man Newcastle. They have been well managed off the pitch by Chairman Huw Jenkins in ensuring their stability in the Premier League, and from kick-off they are aesthetically pleasing on the eye, playing a handsome passing game that would please any top level manager.
There had already been a few scares when the opening goal went in. The resultant 4-5-0 formation never seemed likely to trouble the Swans and, by the end, Newcastle just looked happy to get off the field.
Having been totally outplayed in the build-up to the opener, Newcastle set about finding an equaliser, and Gabriel Obertan forced Lukasz Fabianski into a diving save with a low drive after 15 minutes. We don’t have the team capable of doing that.
Steve McClaren’s version of Newcastle United has maid rapid progress in giving the fans some degree of belief that this season may be one that i worth paying attention to after all.
