News breaking:Suspected Knife Attack In Bromley
Shoppers have told how they “ran for their lives” after a fight involving a machete sparked a “stampede” at a packed shopping centre.
A large 2ft-long machete was recovered from the scene after armed officers were called to the shopping centre.
“Officers arrived at the scene and found a man believed to be in his 20s with a minor head injury”.
Officers arrested the youth on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon, and are looking for another six youths who fled the scene.
A video posted online appeared to show people running out of the Glades in Bromley during the Boxing Day sales.
He was initially treated in a south London hospital after suffering a minor wound before being taken to a local police station.
“Officers have recovered two knives and are seeking to trace a man of which we have no further details, who ran off the scene possibly discarding a weapon”.
“Staff freaking out, telling us to get into the back only to find the back had no exit and we were essentially sitting ducks to what we all thought was a terrorist attack”.
He later saw a male youth in handcuffs and bleeding from the head being led away by police, who were carrying a 2ft-long machete.
‘We got outside and there were a lot of people, some quite emotional’.
Shocking CCTV footage shows terrified shoppers fleeing the scene after the fight broke out – allegedly over a pair of trainers.
“Luckily left that and went out fire exit”.
Police described the incident as an “altercation between two people”.
“The incident is not believed to be terrorism related”. “The centre is open and trading until 6pm”.
