Next Hitman Game Delayed Until March
2015 has been a mixed year for the barcode marked hitman known as Agent 47.
The original idea for the Hitman reboot was that it would be released on December 8, as a digital download for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Hitman has been delayed until March 2016. Until March. The developers announced today that they’re having to delay the game because they’ve opted for a new release model – something that has already confused many players. “Not just in terms of scope and ambition but also in terms of the size of the game world itself” the development team explains. The company added that the playable area and density of locations “goes beyond” anything it has ever built.
Developer Io-Interactive says that the delay will allow the studio to polish its largest game yet, while also allowing it to release more content at launch.
Hitman is set to be a more open game, returning to the roots of titles like Blood Money while adding extra depth through continual post-release content updates. IO and Square Enix plan to release the game in chunks, starting with a sizeable initial launch.
“We’re striving to create a series of living, breathing worlds in those locations and we get pretty obsessed about every detail that you’ll experience”, IO Interactive said. “And in the end, that’s what we’re all looking for”.
IO Interactive promised to share more details about the project, including the full release schedule, next week.
