Next Witcher 3 expansion to be as big as Witcher 2
Speaking with GameReactor, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz of CD Projekt Red discussed the expansion’s size.
Add that to the over 100 hours of playtime the base game offers (not to mention the playtime from additional game DLC released every week), and that’s a lot more time gamers can spend in the world of Geralt of Rivia.
We can see Sony and Microsoft rubbing their hands with glee now, before they draw their swords on each other again.
These expansions are supposed to be fully fleshed out experiences, with new stories, new characters, new items, all interspersed with the high quality cutscenes you’re used to from the main game. They will be quite huge.
Aside from Tomaszkiewicz’s explanation, the only concrete details we know about the two paid add-ons are their names, along with cryptic synopses of the stories’ plots. Hearts of Stone is slated for October while Blood and Wine won’t be out until 2016. That’s an early estimate of 30 more hours of Witcher-y goodness for $25/£20 expansion pass (unless you buy each separately).
Hearts of Stone, the first expansion, will take place in the existing territory of No Man’s Land.
At the beginning of the week, developer CD Projekt Red confirmed that patch 1.07 is going to launch this week and even provided a smaller changelog to show the most important enhancements and fixes included in the update. Tomaszkiewicz said that the game, “will be cool, it will be new stories, it will be very emotional stories and I think that people will be happy”. You can get both expansions for around €25 with the Expansion Pass and they’ll also be available to buy separately.
The studio’s Community Manager, Marcin Momot, confirms on Twitter that PS4 and Xbox One editions of The Witcher 3 won’t receive any patch 1.06, only the upcoming 1.07.
