Nextbit Robin “Cloud-Centric” Smartphone Shipping From 16th Feb
For those who initially signed up for the Robin, the first 1,000 will have received their units by February 16, a tad later than Valentine’s.
Croyle further added that the smartphone given to backers will be GSM-based version only. The CDMA-capable model will follow later this year. The company did release the Baton project which was made available on CyanogenMod, but lo and behold, the group soon announced they would be rebooting as a new smartphone maker. Nextbit Robin is now listed at $399 for pre-orders at its Kickstarter page for users looking to get one. Of course, you also get 100GB of additional cloud storage for free, and you won’t really have to pay extra even if you end up utilizing more than the 100GB of free cloud storage provided along with the smartphone by Nextbit.
While the phone itself has 32GB of storage, Nextbit wants users to store all apps, photos, and other data in the cloud. It is powered by a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with the Adreno 418 GPU.
OS: The smartphone runs on latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow Operating system. The phone deletes stuff from internal storage as it reaches maximum capacity but nothing is technically deleted because it’s stored on the cloud. The rear camera is 13 megapixels with the front-facing camera being 5 megapixels.
Battery: The device is power-packed by a 2680mAh battery with Quick Charge support including USB Type-C charging port. And just like the Sony Xperia Z5 smartphones, the Nextbit Robin also features front-facing stereo speakers for an impressive audio experience. No, it is not related to Robin Hood and it’s a different kind of Android smartphone.
