Nexus 6 Goes Back to Android 7.0 Nougat
Google Nexus 6 users were quite pleased when the Android 7.1.1 update came through despite the unit already stepping outside Google’s update window.
The news holds significance for the extended Android user-base too as the said update will hit other eligible devices only after it is rolled out to Google’s Pixel and Nexus phones. It turns out there was a good reason for that.
Well, now it is clear that Google Assistant won’t be debuting on Android tablets anytime soon or at all. Google has since updated its official Assistant site with a useful “What can it do” section.
To find this out, Android Police got in touch with Google to know why the update hadn’t yet arrived for Android tablets. Therefore, we could see the general release of Android Nougat by the end of August. The personal assistant replaces Google Now and was originally only available on the Pixel devices and the LG G6. However, the Android parent didn’t completely broke off its ties with Nexus 6 and announced that it will keep on rolling out monthly security updates to it. There is no mention of Android tablets. You can now stop checking your Nexus 7 or other tablets with Marshmallow or above for Google Assistant update.
Security Update: Security is paramount in today’s supremely connected world, the Google security patch has been updated to March 1, 2017, in the new update.
In relation to that, the standalone apps allows the users to download applications directly from on-watch Play Store but it will need an internet connection and location tracking through the help of Global Positioning System hardware.
The update brings several camera app improvements as well. After updating the smartphone, Nexus 6 owners soon found out that Android Pay has been broken.
Well, hope many new devices are going to get the update in coming days.
