Barcelona superstar and Brazil national team captain Neymar Jr. had a little injury scare during his team’s training session on Wednesday in New Jersey, USA.
Leonardo – who has previously been vocal in his criticism of the Barcelona forward – has now repeated his concerns over the player’s temperament.
“Neymar is a great player, but he doesn’t have the maturity to lead Brazil and take the team by his hand”, Leonardo told SporTV.
The Red Devils were reportedly prepared to spend £240m on the 23-year-old (via Express) only for the player himself to quickly shoot down their attempts to prize him away from the Nou Camp. He just wanted to have the ball and dribble and make a difference. Today, he can also play without the ball. I didn’t think he could do that.
“Before he didn’t score free kicks”.
Neymar opted to sign for Barcelona from Brazilian side Santos in May 2013 and he has gone on to prove money well spent as he has formed one of the most formidable front line partnerships in world football with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. He recently apologised for what happened and took the blame for Brazil’s failure in Chile.
Brazil’s football confederation has lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a bid to reduce the worldwide suspension of Selecao captain Neymar, the media reported on Saturday. Have your say in the comments section below.
