NFC Playoffs Preview Packers at Cardinals
Wild-card weekend displayed why that philosophy works. After starting 1-for-8, Rodgers finished 21-for-36 for 210 yards with no interceptions.
Green Bay Packers tight end Richard Rodgers (82) celebrates with quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) after wide receiver Davante Adams caught a touchdown pass during the first half of an NFL wild-card playoff football game against t…
Green Bay added a field goal and the spirited defense, which registered six sacks, stopped Washington on fourth-down conversion attempts three times to clinch victory.
Still, they swept, and Aaron Rodgers suspects for the same main reason. That’s scary. While I still think the Cardinals win this game, the value is on the Packers with a free touchdown.
“When you go on the road and galvanize together, it’s you and your loyal fans against the whole stadium”, Rodgers said.
“We came together (Sunday)”. They went 7-1 on the road and showed that they can go into hostile environments and get the job done.
He spoke about his team staying confident despite being down 11-0. “But it didn’t happen today”. The longer the issue is in doubt, the more the noose tightens.
“I do play”, Rodgers said. “A lot of those times, guys make those kicks”.
“They made adjustments and we didn’t”, Washington nose tackle Terrance Knighton said.
Sunday started the NFL Wild Card Weekend with the playing of Seattle against Minnesota in what was the 3rd chilliest game in the history of the NFL.
The Cardinals and Packers squared off once already this season, with Arizona sacking Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers eight times – en route to a 38-8 win that clinched a first-round bye in the postseason.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said the Packers will be different in large part because their offensive line – reeling because of injuries in the first matchup – will be healthier.
With Tretter at left tackle and Bulaga back at right tackle, the Packers scored 35 points in the final three quarters to beat the Redskins. That is why they are favored by a touchdown. They’ll need another giant stride to knock off an Arizona team many believe is the best team. They fear no one and feel they can finally win their first Super Bowl. That’s just kind of how they’ve been.
Green Bay seemed to struggle for most of the season despite winning 10 games. The Cardinals are simply better from top to bottom at this point and should be able to beat Green Bay and advance to the conference championship. Seattle, probably still giving thanks for Walsh’s wayward kick, knows that scoring in only one quarter – and only 10 points – won’t be enough against Carolina.
The Cardinals will have pressure on them.
The Packers know it. Some of them pass it off as not relevant. So do the Steelers, whose resolve can never be questioned. The Seahawks have been to the Super Bowl these last two years, heading for a third in a row, something no one has done since the tragic 90’s Buffalo Bills.
