NFL NEWS: Redskins’ DeSean Jackson, Bill’s LeSean McCoy Ruled Out
LeSean McCoy is still sidelined with a hamstring injury and rookie Karlos Williams has not practiced this week because of a concussion.
Williams (concussion) is officially out for Sunday’s game in Tennessee, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports. If both McCoy and Williams sit out, Boobie Dixon would be the workhorse running back stepping in.
Coach Rex Ryan speaks today after practice. While those figures are troublesome, his career average is a manageable 3.4 yards per carry, which is a respectable number for a third stringer. The Bills also brought in former Indianapolis Colts running back Dan “Boom” Herron, and at least one reporter would not be surprised if Herron ends up receiving more touches than Dixon. McCoy called himself a “quick healer” and is aiming to get back before the team’s Week Eight bye, but realizes the injury needs to take its course. Watkins has caught seven passes for 99 yards and a touchdown in three games. The Redskins will surely have a tough test without both Jackson and Reed, and will likely need to dominate the time of possession by running the ball if they want to pull out a win over Atlanta.
