NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction
Detroit’s defense has given up 43 catches for 603 yards and four touchdowns over the last three games to wide receivers.
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler smiled Thursday when told that teammate Kyle Long wished Ndamukong Suh still played for their division rival the Detroit Lions. Jay Cutler completed 26 of 45 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bears. Players perform on the field and win games, but coaches are the ones who prepare these players every week and teach them particular schemes and skills. The Bears probably won’t throw the ball often in Detroit.
For the season, Cutler has completed 80 of 133 passes (60.2 percent) for 878 yards, 6 TDs and 3 interceptions.
“(I’m) just wanting to be out there to help my teammates”, he said. The Bears’ passing game is ranked just 27th, compared to the 17th-ranked pass defense of the Lions.
Additionally, Alshon Jeffery returned to practice on Wednesday, improving his chances to play on Sunday. Additionally, the Bears have been decimated with injuries since the preseason. And Cutler has yet to post a turnover-free 2015 game, a four-game record that continued with his losing the football for a sack-fumble Kansas City touchdown. Anyone that has played football at a high level knows what he was going through.
I say noteworthy because Alshon Jeffery was too injured to make the trip to Seattle for the Bears’ thumping at the hands of the Seahawks. Ryan Pace and John Fox saw something in him.
“You know their record is extremely deceiving”.
“I don’t think anyone is going to miss playing that guy, especially Kyle or me”, Cutler said. The Lions have the skill position players to win games but no offensive line/running game is absolutely killing them.
Josh Frydman, my co-host on CLTV Sports Feed, asked me with the remaining schedule should we be talking about a wild card berth for this Bears Team?
Matt Forte has been having a strong season once again and while the Bears may not push for a deal for Forte at the trade deadline, reports have the team considering making a move if the deal is right. I will let you sit and think about that for a second. After getting shut out by the Seahawks though, something woke up inside of them and they’re now on a tear. The defense is also shaping up to be a respectable defense that can make key stops on third down and late in games. I know this sounds insane, but with the injuries that have hurt this team, in a few ways it’s opened the door for young guys to step up and get the experience for the future.
The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last five games at home in October. Just remember Bears fans…it could always be worse.
