NFL Standings and Schedule Week 10: Patriots, Bengals, Panthers Undefeated 8-0
In a season of parity (there are maybe three exceptional teams, while the rest are middling to bad) that dip feels even more pronounced. Enemkpali is infamously known in NY as the man who broke Geno Smith’s jaw in training camp. He’s a detail-oriented coach, whereas Rex is more about momentum and motivation. Four more teams – the Jaguars, Vikings, Giants and Redskins – can join them with a win in Week 10. Seattle has given up 27 points or more in their four losses. They did lose Dion Lewis this week due to a torn ACL which may cause for a few concern, but New England will do what they always do, just reload with another player to fit into that role.
The New England Patriots visit the NY Giants in a rematch of Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI. Twelve reached the Super Bowl, and eight won it. If the Patriots make it to 11-0, their only impediment to 16-0 might be themselves. Jay Cutler is playing much better than past year.
The Giants and Jets clawed back into the top 10 with wins over the Buccaneers and Jags, respectively. Seattle is only 4-6-1 against the spread in the venue since the start of last season after years of being a profitable home team, meaning oddsmakers may have finally caught up.
Cardinals @ Seahawks: This will be the game of the week in my opinion and it will be a shootout. At 6-2, it isn’t quite time for the Packers to panic, but the team certainly has to get a few things straightened out in a hurry. JPP will also have his first sack since returning. The defeat dropped the Cowboys to a miserably unlucky 0-4 in games decided by a touchdown or less since Tony Romo went down, as opposed to the Buccaneers’ fortunate 3-1 in the same category. The Raiders’ loss to Pittsburgh may prove costly as they look to make the play-offs for the first time since 2002. Usually it’s Seattle’s defense that gets that one stop to put the game away, but the script is flipped as the Cardinals defense gets the final stop and secures the win for Arizona. Everything St. Louis does well directly corresponds with things that give the Bears serious trouble. In the past 15 years, 35 teams that didn’t have a winning record halfway through the season played in the postseason. Offseason free agent signing Chris Johnson is averaging almost five yards per carry. I expect a big day for Gurley, to the tune of 158 yards and three TDs. That follows their noon broadcast of the Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers game. Landry Jones was the hero last week. I was a huge fan of the band Stryper and their version of the Yellow and Black Attack. I even caught a Bible at one of their concerts, a proud talisman I kept in the glove box of my vehicle for years. I knew Stryper was cheesy, God-rock schlock. In God We Trust, in him we must believe. I think of of the remaining three goes down this weekend. It all starts in Florida where the Cowboys take on Tampa Bay. That of Greg Hardy. At 6-2, Minnesota are tied for first place in the NFC North with the Green Bay Packers, a team widely considered the favourites to take the division.
Packers: Aaron Rodgers was not a happy camper last Sunday with his Packers dropping their second straight game.
That’s ridiculous. The literal difference between winning that game and losing it was two interceptions by the guy with the better defense and the definitively better secondary. That would be the only victory Detroit tastes.
Carolina Panthers at Tennessee Titans: A week after shocking the Saints on their turf, in come the Panthers who remain unbeaten. And that’s precisely why I’m picking the Titans. But the Panthers defense is SOOOO much better than New Orleans’.
Panthers’ Quarterback Cam Newton has been struggling with accuracy but still has a dual-threat attack and a solid defense to back him up.
Dolphins at Eagles (-6.5): Don’t look now but the Eagles are starting to put it together.
Actual accountability in the Lions organization?
Buffalo has been an up and down team all season long, but their talent is more than capable of propelling them into the wild card picture down the stretch. LeSean McCoy and Ryan Mathews must be licking their chops. And Darren Sproles, who could be poised for a big fantasy week.
New Orleans Saints @ Washington Redskins- New Orleans started out hot last week, but then went flat in the loss to Tennessee at home.
The receivers let down QB Kirk Cousins in Foxborough.
The Jaguars will take advantage of that and surprise the Ravens in Baltimore. Panthers to win and cover. With a victory on Sunday against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, the Patriots will post a winning record for the 15h straight season, joining San Francisco (16, 1983-98) and Dallas (16, 1970-85) as the only teams to have winning records in at least 15 straight seasons since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. After two rough weeks on the road vs Denver and Carolina the Packers have been really shaky, especially on the defensive side of the ball. His elite meter now ranks between the cucumber and radish on the list of vegetables, with carrots at the pinnacle and lima beans in the pit.
Saints @ Redskins: Drew Bress has one of those games on Sunday where he throws four touchdown passes totaling over 400 yards passing. He leads the league with 115 yards per game rushing, and Minnesota star Adrian Peterson is next at 90.4.
Vikings at Raiders (-3): Instead of worrying about fighting Gregg Williams, Mike Zimmer needs of figure out how to slow down Derek Carr and the Raiders’ high-powered offense. He was knocked out, quite literally, of last week’s game against St. Louis and remains in the concussion protocol. The Vikings are playing as well as anyone right now, and just picked up another nice win over the Rams.
In addition to the three 8-0 teams, the Denver Broncos are 7-1, having only lost last week.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. They might land a shot here or there, but in the end the Broncos are just too sharp. ESPN will televise the Texans-Bengals game at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Of course, the Giants still don’t have the best personnel to exploit the weakness, but they will try, and they have excelled at ballhawking this season with a league-leading 20 takeaways.
