NFL Suspends Bengals’ Vontaze Burfict over Rough Play
Cincinnati Bengals linebackers Vontaze Burfict was suspended for the first three games of next season by the NFL Monday night.
The punishment was for his hit on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown during the final minute of an AFC wild-card game Saturday. But you know and I know that when [Sunday] gets here, all of that is going out the window… he’s going to be cleared Friday.
It seems Pacman is sticking to his guns. Jones said that if Brown ends up missing the game because of a concussion “I will send out an apology”. The NFL said it’s also reviewing the conduct of other players and coaches during the game.
Saturday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals game was such a display of out of control behavior that it is still the source of topic on Tuesday. “I think he needs a Grammy award for that one”. “When I saw it, and saw (Brown’s) hands flail, and I saw his head lean back, the first thing I said was, ‘[the officials] got it right.’ And that’s being honest”.
After the game, he said he would try his best to play against the Denver Broncos in Sunday’s 4:40 p.m. divisional-round kickoff in Denver. I don’t care what venue you’re in-basketball, football, hockey, or you’re at your neighborhood bar-spitting on somebody is unacceptable. “And he plays very well within the rules, and we have to keep doing that”. Burfict also injured Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s shoulder, although that was deemed to be a clean hit. The two penalties moved the ball from Cincinnati’s 47-yard line to the 17, and Chris Boswell made a 35-yard field goal for the victory.
Landry Jones will get the majority of snaps in practice early in the week as Pittsburgh prepares for a rematch with the Broncos, whom the Steelers beat 34-27 on December 20 behind the spectacular play of Brown.
Burfict was fined four times for safety-related violations during the 2015 season.
Burfict was suspended for three games by the National Football League on Monday.
