NFL union releases Brady testimony in “Deflategate”
ESPN.com reported Brady and league Commissioner Roger Goodell will be in attendance for the August 12 hearing in Manhattan.
The NFL Players Association released the transcript of Tom Brady’s testimony in his June arbitration hearing regarding his alleged role in the deflated footballs controversy. And if Brady were to have found that the footballs had been tampered with in any way?
“He’s been doing it for a long time on a very high level”, Amendola said of Brady. “I’ve always told the guy who swaps them out for me to make sure you get rid of the phone”.
“I was relying on the advice of my lawyers”, Brady said.
On the process of breaking in game balls: “Well, I don’t know all the specifics”. That’s what I learned after the fact.
Brady: “Ball pressure has been so inconsequential, I hadn’t even thought about that”. That’s the first time I ever complained. “It was never something that even crossed my mind”. We’ve all seen Brady play raging, and it’s quite frightening. He also said he hasn’t asked anyone from the Patriots to tamper with footballs.
Brady continued to deny any wrongdoing and also testified that the inflation level of footballs is a non-factor when selecting which balls he wants to use on game days. He said he wanted to choose from about 50 balls, all prepared in different ways. It hurt my assessment of his credibility for him to begin his interview by telling me he declined to give me the documents. Butler does, and so long as he continues to have more practices like Tuesday than his underwhelming session Sunday, you can expect him to be atop the team’s depth chart at the position this season.
Wells: “I do not know”.
Q: Okay. And what was your reaction when you heard about that?
But Brady, whose wife is model Gisele Bundchen, said he has routinely given cell phones to an assistant to be destroyed during his career, in part because of photos and NFL and endorsement contracts that would be included in them.
Brady: “My assistant does that”. The four-time Super Bowl champ was suspended for four games in the wake of the deflategate scandal involving the apparently intentional deflation of game balls.
Reisner: “And directing your attention back to the Declaration of Mr. Maryman, NFLPA Exhibit 6″.
Many of them were rather mundane, including announcements of family members’ new babies, questions for his money managers, alerts for new PIN numbers, making plans for trips with friends, and hunting for a new pool cover (albeit one that costs $8,300).
Reisner: “Do you remember anything else that happened on March 6, 2015?” It appears Wells discounted Brady’s version of the events because his legal team didn’t turn over certain unspecified documents.
I have no idea what Brady’s political party affiliation is.
