Nick Chubb Ties Herschel Walker’s Georgia Record of 12 Straight 100-Yard Games
The 7th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs welcome their second Louisiana opponent of 2015 to Athens on Saturday when the Southern Jaguars come to Sanford Stadium. The three biggest things I’m watching in this game are as follows: Will Nick Chubb continue his consecutive 100 yards rushing streak to 12 in this game?
Georgia running back Nick Chubb crossed the 100-yard rushing mark for the 12th consecutive game Saturday against Southern University.
Georgia running back Sony Michel (1) reaches for the goal line as Southern’s Justin Morgan (9) and Nicholas McDonald (36) defend in the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, September 26, 2015, in Athens, Ga. He scored on a 24-yard pass from Greyson Lambert in the first quarter.
Chubb capped off his day with this 49-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter.
The last time Chubb didn’t reach 100 yards was in October against Vanderbilt.
Greyson Lambert didn’t miss a step after his “going public” with Miss Georgia, completing 9-of-10 for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Michel ran for 75 yards, including a 7-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Southern’s 3.1 yards per rushing attempt were not bad, but not great either. Sophomore quarterback Austin Howard was 8 of 19 for 69 yards.
The Bulldogs are riding high after hanging “half a hundred” on the South Carolina Gamecocks and Head Coach Steve Spurrier last weekend. Our thoughts go out to Southern wide receiver Devon Gales who went down with a scary looking injury after a hit by Marshall Morgan on a kick return. Southern’s $650,000 guarantee for playing the game included a commitment the band would play at halftime.
